Frequently Asked Questions.

+ Travel Plans

Book your flight into St. Thomas (STT) and we’ll help you arrange travel from the airport to the marina. Ideally land late morning or early afternoon so your vacation can begin right away (you may embark as early as noon). Book your return flight out in the afternoon, if possible.

+ What Happens Once I Arrive?

You will receive your “welcome cocktail,” we will bring your bags on board and allow you some time to get settled in. Next your boat tour will also include a short safety briefing. After the briefing we then cast off the dock lines and your vacation officially begins!

+ Travel Insurance?

Definitely something to consider in these continued times of Covid. Things happen on your end and also with nature. This is a special trip and it is recommended that you explore options to protect it - just in case. Note that some policies require you to book within 1-2 weeks of your first payment, so better to think about this when you're planning your trip. Contact us for a list of trip insurance companies.

+ Where Do We Go & What Will We See?

The charter itinerary is based on your list of preferences. We know the US & British Virgin Islands and their secrets very well which allows us to customize each itinerary. It may be impossible to see everything in one visit; however, the longer your trip, the more you can see. We will do our best to accommodate the activities and locations you have chosen.

+ What About Seasickness?

Catamarans are a stable sailing vessel because of the two hulls. The times when a person prone to seasicknesses might feel something are on sailing days with windy/choppy conditions. If anyone has a concern about motion sickness, we recommend exploring a variety of remedies and plan to start taking right away/daily, which should minimize nauseous reactions to the motion.

+ Does The Boat Have A/C?

Chaos Interrupted is equipped with A/C in each cabin as well as A/C in the Salon & Galley area. We typically do not run the A/C during the day because we have the ocean breeze to keep us all cool. We will run the A/C when guests are cleaning up (which is typically around happy hour time), along with all night long.

+ Internet?

WiFi is available onboard, but note that this is the islands, so speed and reliability are different from what you expect in the States. Also, we ask that you limit streaming as those services use a lot of data, which is costly in the islands.

+ Meals / Dietary Restrictions

1-2 weeks prior to your trip, we will review together your charter preference sheet. This is what we customize your vacation from. As a part of that conversation, we’ll discuss any special dietary needs so that we can accommodate for your enjoyment.

+ Gratuity?

Gratuity is customarily 15-20% based on level of service. If you prefer not to pay in cash, you may also pay via Venmo or Credit Card (+3% bank fee).

+ Can I Fish On Board?

Sea to table is a FANTASTIC meal! Fishing in the USVI is included in the cost of the trip. We will let you know the the waters we're allowed to fish in, based on local laws in the USVI. Fishing license for the BVI can be purchased for approximately $50/person. Let your crew know if you wish to fish in the BVI. Then fill out this form & follow the directions to submit on this BVI Government Page. Chaos Interrupted has two trolling rods and casting rods (with tackle) on board.

+ Can I Catch & Eat A Lobster?

Yes in the USVI only. Vince or Judy will escort certified divers out to try & catch a lobster dinner. As long as the lobsters are the correct size, species and are not egg-bearing females, it is legal. Because we are not citizens of the BVI, we cannot catch lobster in their waters.

+ Should I Bring My Mask/Snorkel and/or Dive Gear?

It is up to you! We have enough masks, snorkels & fins on the boat for all passengers. Some may want to bring their own mask due to familiarity. If you plan to dive, you can bring your own gear or we can rent gear locally for you and it will be on the boat when you arrive.

+ Scuba Diving?

Vince is a PADI Instructor and Judy is a PADI Divemaster. Two dives per certified diver are included from the boat. Additional dives are $50 per person/per dive. If you need to rent gear, we will set you up to rent directly from a local dive shop. Please let us know you want to dive on your preference sheet, so all tanks & gear will be coordinated prior to your arrival.

+ Can I Get Certified To Dive?

YES!! Both Vince and Judy are PADI instructors. Please let us know what you want to accomplish while on board Chaos Interrupted and we will advise on the best way to accommodate.

+ Can You Teach Me To Sail?

Captain Vince and First Mate Judy are more than willing to share their knowledge of sailing and let you try your hand at the helm; however, we are not certified sailing instructors.

+ What Safety Equipment Do You Have On Board?

Chaos Interrupted is equipped with an EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon), AED, first aid kit, an 8-person life raft, 10 Life Jackets (2 child), man overboard gear, two life slings, waterproof VHF radios and more.
